Talented young Oliver Townend (25) and his striking grey mount Flint Curtis went one better than last year to clinch first place in the FEI World Cup Qualifier, with a flawless display of show jumping to finish on 59.9 penalties. Despite racking up eight penalties in show jumping, Pippa Funnell and Ensign finished second on 62.7, while Great British Olympic team member William Fox-Pitt on Parkmore Ed came third with a score of 65.2. Around 16 riders from the Peak District and Derbyshire took part in both novice and advance events, with the best score from Biggin-based Maddy Moffett, who rode Honour Promise to fourth place in the Novice Section A with a clear show jumping round to finish on 45.8. In the same section, Brailsford-based Christine Yeomans and Culland Hillbrook were awarded the inaugural Brigadier Bill Trophy for the best cross country performance by a Derbyshire partnership.
